On Friday, August 31, Aretha Franklin will be honored with a private funeral service in Detroit. The ceremony will be viewable online and on TV, according to The Detroit Free Press. The funeral will feature performances from Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, and others. Portions of the tribute will be broadcast on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News, while Associated Press will host the live stream.
Aretha Franklin passed away on August 16 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 76. The public viewing will be held in Detroit at Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History on August 28 and 29. Ariana Grande’s Sweetener album debut No. 1 on the Hot 100.
