Kendrick Lamar Buys Van for Handicapped Fan
“For all the years of inspiring me, the least I can do is make sure you’re comfortable driving the city.”
Kendrick Lamar purchased a van for a quadriplegic fan named Jennifer Phillips. Phillips is a victim of a car accident in 2007 that left her with a spinal cord injury, and she has been using a wheelchair ever since. Jennifer, however, kept her head up throughout the years, going on to finish college and partaking in physically challenging activities such as skiing. She also attended many music concerts, including eight of Kendrick Lamar’s shows. In 2016, Phillips made a GoFundMe page to raise money for a modified van in order to make traveling easier and more convenient.
Kendrick Lamar, touched by her story, decided to purchase Phillips a new van. Jennifer took to social media to showcase her new gift, along with an autographed DAMN. jacket Kendrick gave her. He wrote in a note: “Thank you for always supporting me. You’re a inspiration for me. You are strong and positive. You’re kind and beautiful. For all the years of inspiring me, the least I can do is make sure you’re comfortable driving the city. A gift from me to you. You’re always appreciated! — K. Lamar.” Because of Kendrick, her GoFundMe page is no longer active. Check out her Instagram post below.
