Kazuyuki Kumagai Debuts Baggy, Minimalist SS19 Lookbook
Louche suiting complete with slip-ons, florals and luxurious textiles.

Kazuyuki Kumagai continues developing on concepts introduced in his Fall/Winter 2018 range; oversized suiting, loungey shirts and draping pants executed with contemporary flair. Minimalism informs the designer’s latest offering, which showcases restrained patterns, appreciably muted colors and low-key detailing across a wide range of silhouettes. Relaxed trousers are key, accenting nearly every look to balance the long shirts, beefy jackets and boxy camp-collar shirts. Kumagai’s preferred dark hues appear throughout, with black and grey goods complemented by bright red shorts, desaturated olive sweaters and summery khaki tees. Sporty influences manifest by way of bomber jackets, parkas and side stripe pants, while Kumagai’s penchant for textural intrigue yields lightweight crinkly cottons that grant a mac coat and wide trousers extra visual interest.
Elsewhere in Japan, Blue Blue Japan honed its usual attention to detail for a Spring/Summer 2019 range accented by indigo and patchwork.
