Beyoncé Shares Tribute to Police Killed in Dallas
“To effect change we must show love in the face of hate and peace in the face of violence.”

Beyoncé posted a tribute video on her Instagram earlier today in order to honor the five officers slain by a sniper in Dallas on Thursday night during a protest held in response to the recent murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Seven officers and two civilians were also injured during the shooting. The pop icon shared a video, which shows a billowing image of the Texas flag and the names of the five police officers: Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa. Along with the clip, she shared following note:
Rest in peace to the officers whose lives were senselessly taken yesterday in Dallas. I am praying for a full recovery of the seven others injured. No violence will create peace. Every human life is valuable. We must be the solution. Every human being has the right to gather in peaceful protest without suffering more unnecessary violence. To effect change we must show love in the face of hate and peace in the face of violence.
