UPDATE: New Details Emerge About the Upcoming 'Pokémon' Games for Nintendo Switch
‘Let’s Go, Pikachu!’ and ‘Let’s Go, Eevee!’ will release this year.
Update: Following E3 2018’s Nintendo Direct, it has been confirmed Each Poké Ball Plus will contain Mew, as will all the Poké Ball Plus accessories sold in special packs. Players can use a variety of Candies to strengthen their Pokémon in a training system exclusive to the new games. Players will also be able to trade and engage in Single and Double Battles with other players online and via local wireless communication.
Amid speculation surrounding potential new Pokémon games, Nintendo has now officially announced two new Nintendo Switch games in the franchise. The trailer for the two games show’s that one – Let’s Go, Pikachu! – will focus on arguably the series’ most famous character, while the other will focus on Eevee.
Both games are inspired by Pokémon Yellow, which was released 20 years ago this year. The trailer gives a glimpse of gameplay, and shows how the game is controlled with one joy-con, allowing for multiplayer games. The two Let’s Go titles will also be playable using a special Poké Ball control and can be connected to Pokémon GO. Both new Nintendo Switch games are set to be available from November 16 this year, and tease the chance to “meet a special Pokémon.”
As well as Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s go, Eevee!, Nintendo has also announced a new RPG title. Pokémon Quest is set to feature cube-shaped Pokémon and will focus on searching for treasure on Tumbluecube Island. As it stands, there are few details on what else to expect from Pokémon Quest, but keep checking back ahead of the game’s release date.
