A First Look at the Official ‘The Hate U Give’ Trailer

Slated to debut later this fall, 20th Century Fox released the first official look at the upcoming film, The Hate U Give. Based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name, the story revolves around high-school student Starr Carter, who splits time between the poverty-stricken neighborhood she calls home and the affluent prep school she attends.
The teen’s world is completely flipped upside down when her childhood friend, Khalil, is shot and killed by a police officer. With surmounting pressure crashing in from all sides of her community, Starr is faced with the daunting task of using her voice to fight the powers that be. The Hate U Give will make its feature film debut on October 19. However, in the meantime, check out the official trailer above for a sneak peek.
