Zlatan Ibrahimovic States He's Going to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Thanks to Visa
“I cannot deprive the FIFA World Cup of Zlatan.”
After football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated last month he would not be joining the Swedish squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, it now looks like the Lion will be attending, thanks to Visa.
Announced on Tuesday, Zlatan has become the new face of Visa‘s global marketing campaign, which will include a series of films tied to the World Cup. In the first ad posted above, Zlatan can be seen holding up a jersey to which he has changed the “s” to a “z” stating it’s been “Zlatanized.” On the new campaign Ibrahimovic stated, “Of course Visa approached me to partner with them, I’m Zlatan. I’m the best on the field, and as the leader in payments, Visa is the best off the field.” Watch the clip above.
Ibrahimovic retired from international competition following the 2016 EURO Cup, but there has since been speculation, much of it fueled by Ibrahimovic himself, that he would come out of retirement to play for the Sweden squad in Russia this summer. The 36-year-old has participated in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups scoring 62 goals in 116 games for his country. Ibrahimovic recently left Manchester United to join LA Galaxy and has made a great start to his career in the States.
