Nike first teased images of the Air VaporMax 97 “Metallic Gold” last month, granting us a first look at the contemporary hybrid runner. For this specific release, the Swoosh applied the popular color scheme onto the Air Max 97/Air VaporMax combo sneaker, which places the upper of the former onto the signature VaporMax sole unit.
A lavish gold hue — comprised of mesh and leather — swarms the upper with subtle hits of Black and “Varsity Red” peeking out from the side Swoosh, tongue branding and heel pull tab. 3M reflective detailing found on the upper racing stripes do well to tie the look together. Priced at $190 USD, the new design is expected to hit select Nike retailers on May 17.
