Louis Vuitton‘s Resort 2019 collection debuted at the Maeght Foundation museum of modern art in the south of France, marking Nicolas Ghesquière‘s fifth cruise collection for the luxury house. This season took on a more free-spirited attitude that fused ’80s eclecticism with signature LV codes, much of which was built upon opposing elements — angular shoulders with billowing silks, cool neutrals offset with kaleidoscopic hues, and a medley of pattern clashing assisted by colorful metallics, bohemian prints and touches of the iconic LV Monogram print.
Notable pieces include the cape and bomber jackets lined with LV Monogram, the patterned ’80s metallic cropped jackets, the boxy suit pieces and the feather tops. Perhaps the biggest hits of the range, however, fell in the accessories and footwear category: the sneaker-boot hybrids, the visor-like sunglasses that look like safety goggles, and the leather accessories made in collaboration with former Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington.
