The Slick Dancefloor Funk of Classixx & Holy Ghost!'s "I Feel Numb" Would Make Prince Proud
Classixx’s comeback album comes out next month.
As they prepare to unleash their comeback album Faraway Reach later this year, Classixx are doing a stellar job of properly reintroducing listeners to their talents. Following the release of their first official single in several years, “Grecian Summer,” Classixx connected with How to Dress Well last month for a second single, “Just Let Go.” Today, they’re back with another new collaboration, and it might be their best record since bursting back onto the scene. Entitled “I Feel Numb,” the song boasts contributions from one-half of Holy Ghost! Alex Frankel and showcases the type of dancefloor funk that would have destroyed clubs in the 80’s. Speaking to Stereogum about the collab, Alex Frankel says:
I knew I wanted to work with Mike and Tyler as soon as I met them in 2008. Soon after, Mike and I worked at his apartment and came up with a basic idea for a song, “I feel numb.” So many years later, we finally got around to finishing it last summer at their studio in LA. Good things take time? I hope so. It’s a really fun song and it makes me happy. Thrilled to finally be on a record with my very close, talented friends Classixx.
Faraway Reach will officially see release on June 3 via Innovative Leisure.
