Miami's Rolling Loud Festival 2017 Facing Cancellation
Rolling Loud’s fate to be decided on April 11.
After announcing a star-studded lineup earlier this year that included the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Future, Young Thug and A$AP Rocky, it now appears Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival is facing cancellation. Frank Carollo, the chairman of Bayfront Park Management Trust — where the event is being held — alleges Timothy Schand, the board’s executive director, approved the festival’s contract without consulting with other board members. Schand maintains his innocence, claiming he did nothing to violate standard procedures, but ended up resigning from the board on March 31. As it stands, the board will hold a vote on the “approval/denial of the use agreement for the Rolling Loud Festival” on Tuesday, April 11 which will determine if Rolling Loud will be able to move forward with the festival come May 5. According to the Miami Herald, the organizers of Rolling Loud have already spent $8 million dollars preparing for the festival and expected upwards of 40,000 attendees. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available; stay tuned.
