Nendo and Fritz Hansen Team up to Create the N01 Dining Chair
The collaboration will debut at Salone del Mobile.

Japanese design studio Nendo recently joined forces with Danish furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen to rework a classic. The design brief for the collaboration was to gently update one of Hansen’s most well-known staples, the dining chair. To do this the two brands created the N01 chair, which is the Danish company’s first solid wood chair since 1957’s Arne Jacobsen-designed Grand Prix chair.
Speaking to Wallpaper, Oki Sato, founder of Nendo, said “It was exciting to learn that. A wooden chair is not an easy product for a designer to make. It is one of the most difficult and one’s personal mentality or philosophy can be expressed through it. Our goal was to finalise a chair which is contemporary, yet maintains the traditional and historical feel of the brand.”
Nendo and Fritz Hansen’s N01 dining chair will officially be unveiled at Salone del Mobile, which takes place between April 17-21.
