Syd Repurposes Big Sean & Jhene Aiko's "Selfish" for "Treading Water"

After years of working with the Odd Future crew and crafting neo-soul and R&B with The Internet, Syd stepped out onto her own with last month’s long-awaited debut solo album. Titled Fin, the LP was supported with records such as “Body” and the advent of The Internet’s new Beats 1 show. Swiftly revisiting her recent body of work, Syd has decided to drop off a track that wasn’t featured on Fin, “Treading Water.” “This was my favorite song on #FIN before I had to cut it,” Syd explains. “Treading Water” reworks the original beat for Big Sean and Jhene Aiko‘s “Selfish,” a high-profile song from the pair’s 2016 joint project TWENTY88.
