Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese national treasure that tells the tales of giant mechs and the psychologically damaged people who pilot them. The acclaimed series explores religious and philosophical themes, which subsequently revolutionized anime storytelling while becoming a pop culture phenomenon in the process.

Uniqlo sister brand GU has come together with the popular animation franchise to release apparel based on motifs introduced in the movies Evangelion: 1.0, Evangelion: 2.0 and Evangelion 3.0 along with an array of fan service nods. Designs are centered around the looks of classic characters in the series, as well as pieces influenced by individual combat armor seen by Evangelion pilots. The first series of the ‘Evangelion’ x GU collection will release on March 12 on GU’s website and at their two Hong Kong stores. GU also recently collaborated with Kim Jones for a reissue of his archival pieces.
