Grimes & Janelle Monae Become Sword-Swinging Space Warriors for "Venus Fly" Video
A vision for the future.
After teasing the visual on social media yesterday, Grimes has unveiled the full video for “Venus Fly.” Originally released as part of her 2015 studio album Art Angels, “Venus Fly” features Janelle Monae and its accompanying vignette finds Grimes assuming the role of director and editor. The futuristic clip also boasts an alternate rendition of the song in the credit roll.
“Sometimes it feels futile to be making art in this cruel and extreme political climate,” explained Grimes in a previous Instagram post about “Venus Fly.” “But some of the brightest moments of the last few months for me and for a lot of you, I suspect, have come from seeing Janelle Monae’s amazing and positive vision of the future, especially when we are being introduced to so many possible dystopian futures.”
