Skepta, Stormzy and Other Grime MCs Are Painted as British Noblemen
At a Tate Britain exhibition called “Legends of the Scene.”

In honor of grime’s greatest MCs, the Tate Britain is throwing a special exhibition titled “Legends of the Scene.” The series of paintings by British artist Reuben Dangoor depicts Skepta, Stormzy, Dizzee Rascal, D Double E and Wiley all as British Noblemen. However, the Grime MCs are all still donning track suits, slides and sneakers, holding microphones and riding motorbikes. On this special exhibition, Dangoor shares that he “love[s] the fact that garage and grime are finally getting the love it deserves,” so that he “felt like [he] wanted to honor some of the legends of the scene in a historical way.” If you aren’t able to make it to the London exhibition in person, check out the series below.
