Pusha T Tells Ebro That Rae Sremmurd Is His Favorite Group
“They make songs that I can’t make.”
Last week, Hot 97‘s Ebro voiced his issue with Complex for ranking Rae Sremmurd‘s debut album Sremmlife as the third best release of the year, something The Old Man did not agree with. Today Pusha T visited the station and when that situation was brought up, the G.O.O.D. Music president and rapper did nothing but defend the duo — to the point where he even called them his “favorite group.” He shares:
“I don’t know man, I sort of feel like you took their ranking a bit too personal. That’s really my favorite group. They literally are my favorite group. [...] It’s the flows, the melodies. It’s the actual song structure. They make songs that I can’t make, literally. I wouldn’t make those songs, but I know how to enjoy their music fully. I know how to enjoy their music. They make records that work on the radio. A lot of times records that work on the radio have a level of corniness to me. I don’t feel like their records are corny. [...] I’m happy with [the ranking]. I’m good with #3. Whatever lacks lyrically, they got it in swag.”
