Having released blockbusters such as JawsJurassic Park, E.T. and Schindler’s List together, Steven Spielberg and Universal Studios have announced a new partnership to solidify their lucrative relationship. This news comes after Universal’s most successful year to date at the box office, breaking records with $5.53 billion USD in earnings thanks to Jurassic World and Furious 7. The partnership will take the form of a new company called Amblin Partners, in collaboration with Spielberg’s own DreamWorks Studios, Participant Media, Entertainment One and Reliance Entertainment, while Universal and Focus Features will distribute and market between 4-7 Amblin films each year. The first film under this new scheme will be The Girl on the Train, starring Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux and set to release in October 7 next year.
