JW Anderson Joins Legendary British Artists Gilbert & George for Capsule Collection
Accompanied by a limited book.
JW Anderson’s latest artist collaboration underlines his eponymous label’s focus on celebrating British heritage, drawing from the rich, anti-establishment work of Gilbert & George for a special capsule. Guard Plants, Dog Boy and Heavy are the three works at the heart of the collection, showcasing prints of each work across cotton tunics, T-shirts, sweaters, leather jackets and bags alike. Though emphasis is placed on the photographic recreations, the clothing is directly inspired by the artworks, both created to recall the ’80s (when all the works were published) and subvert classic pieces of British clothing, including the night shirt, swim shorts, leather jacket and shopping bag.
The collection is exclusively available on MATCHESFASHION.COM’s website until it hits JW Anderson’s site. Accompanying the collection is a special art book, dubbed The Pleasure Book for Boys with JW Anderson and Gilbert & George, which will be published and made available on JW Anderson’s website on December 19.
