LA’s BOND is making a name for itself with its handmade, punk-inspired collections that serve as both political commentary and wearable artwork. For Fall/Winter 2018, the brand’s “No Curfew” collection draws influence from New York’s rough-and-tumble heritage.
Nods to both punk and hip-hop music appear throughout the range, with Method Man lyrics accompanied by references to Escape From New York, Studio 54 and DIY punk style, informed by dangling handcuff accessories, raw hems and paint smears. Doodled graphics and thematic prints — Metrocards and cigarette packs — are joined by Swarovski crystal applications for a hint of repurposed luxury. Along with scene staples like leather jackets, ripped-up shirts and trim jeans, the range boasts a faux fur trucker, painted slacks and an asymmetric layered trench coat.
