Since its debut, the Nike Kyrie 4 has been one of the most worn signature models on the hardwood. With special drops such as its “Cereal” pack, mismatched “Confetti“ colorway and Nike SB-inspired ”Green Lobster” and “Day of the Dead” launches now a thing of the past, the Swoosh has decided to close that signature chapter for Kyrie Irving. Today, Nike’s basketball division shared the venus flytrap-influenced Kyrie 5. Set to be Irving’s most personal shoe to date, you’ll find it to have a similar structure as the Nike Kyrie 3 with completely different tech specs. Designer Benjamin Nethongkome shares three important features of the model which include a new articulated forefoot zoom bag (Air Zoom Turbo), new containment system and upgraded traction pattern.
So far, Irving’s signature models have arguably delivered some of the best storytelling colorways we’ve seen in quite some time. With the Kyrie 5, “Uncle Drew” and Nethongkome aim to raise that by with a series of special editions that reflect some of Kyrie’s past passions as well as his current inspirations. Kyrie Irving is set to debut the Nike Kyrie 5 on-court tonight against the undefeated Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks with an official launch to follow on November 22. China will see the new model hit shelves on December 6. Flip through some of the shots provided and let us know where this edition ranks among Irving’s signature selection.
