Judge Announces Verdict in Jay Z & Timbaland's "Big Pimpin" Trial
Closure.

Jay Z and Timbaland have a little more reason to celebrate today. U.S. District Judge Christina A. Snyder has dismissed the case brought against them by Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdi’s nephew, Osama Fahmy. Fahmy originally brought the suit against Jay and Timbo for allegedly sampling his uncle’s song “Khosara, Khosara” without his family’s permission. He argued that they violated Egyptian law by doing so, and that the track itself violated the “moral rights” of Hamdi. However, Snyder has struck down the suit and ruled that Egypt’s law doesn’t apply in this case. The U.S. District Judge says, ”Fahmy lacked standing to pursue his claim. In light of that decision, it will not be necessary to submit to the jury whether ‘Big Pimpin’ infringed ‘Khosara Khosara’.” Once again, Jay Z and Timbaland prevail.
