Timbaland Claims Producers Don't Exist Anymore
“I don’t think we have producers anymore,I think we have great programmers.”
One of hip-hop’s most renowned producers doesn’t believe music producers exist anymore. In a recent interview on Hot 97, he was asked which producers are blowing his mind right now, to which he answered:
I don’t think we have producers anymore,I think we have great programmers. Beats are not made how we used to do em, I think they come as a package. The looping is for you to figure out which program to run it through to trick it out and to make something that once was be something totally different. I take patterns, layers and blend the colors. People don’t even know how to make their own snares anymore
The super-producer also talked touched on his past work with Aaliyah & Missy Elliot, onto his role with Empire and more. He eventually goes on to praise Drake heavily, calling him the “King.”
“Drake got it. He the King. He got it. He doing everything in the 90’s, but flippin’ it in a cooler way..People need to pay attention to him.”
