It seems whenever someone falls into good fortune, problems always come up. Rapper, producer and entrepreneur Dr. Dre achieved billionaire status this past spring with the purchase of his Beats by Dre company by tech giant Apple. Monster and company CEO Noel Lee are unhappy with this as the company has claimed that they had invented the popular Beats headphones and that Dre is attempting to ‘pirate’ away their invention. The lawsuit alleges that the Beats company covered up Monster and Lee’s participation in the headphones design, as well as the educated advice the two provided Dre on the market, manufacturing and selling. Monster goes on to claim Beats erased their ties with the brand and were eventually bought out by Apple for $3 billion. Due to this, Lee and Monster missed out on over $100 million in profits from the Apple/Beats deal. Apple has yet to comment, but it is certain that this will be a high-profile lawsuit to keep your eyes on. Stay tuned for more.
