Hedi Slimane Named Artistic, Creative and Image Director of CÉLINE
He will also be introducing menswear to the brand.

After official confirmation that Phoebe Philo is leaving legendary French fashion house, CÉLINE, the LVMH-owned brand has now announced that Hedi Slimane will be taking over as artistic, creative and image director. It was also announced that Slimane will be introducing menswear as well to broaden the range of offerings, which will be unveiled for both men and women during Paris Fashion Week in September. Slimane’s career has seen him in luxury houses such as Dior Homme and most recently Saint Laurent Paris, where he garnered great attention in how he revolutionized the images of these labels.
In a statement to WWD, Slimane added that he is “delighted to join Bernard Arnault in this all-embracing and fascinating mission for CÉLINE. I greatly look forward to returning to the exciting world of fashion and the dynamism of the ateliers.”
Other notable figures within the fashion industry also expressed their delight with Karl Lagerfeld adding this, “I am enchanted, what a great choice.”
