This 'Blade Runner 2049' Short Film Explains the Gap Between Both Films
It revolves around Jared Leto’s character, Niander Wallace.
A week after the release of the latest trailer in support of Blade Runner 2049, Collider has debuted a new prequel for the forthcoming Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford film. Taking place 13 years — 2036 — before the narrative of Blade Runner 2049, this new short film runs about five minutes and takes place in Los Angeles.
The “in-world” production is meant to fill in the blanks regarding the timeline between the initial installment in the Blade Runner series and the upcoming sequel. The film is centered on Niander Wallace — Jared Leto’s character — and finds Luke Scott taking over directorial duties.
You can view the new, 2036-based short film for Blade Runner 2049 above, while the film itself is set to hit theaters on October 6. For more, check out last month’s trailer for the movie.
