YouTube tech reviewer Unbox Therapy, aka Lewis Hilsenteger, has gotten his hands on what he claims to be the “most comprehensive prototype” of the forthcoming Apple iPhone 8 model yet. As a disclaimer, a prototype is “a first, typical or preliminary model of something, especially a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied.” In this case, the prototype is a visual representation of the iPhone 8 exterior, which boasts the same screen to body ratio of the alleged final device.
The review compares the iPhone 8 model to the iPhone 7 models, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S8, which has a similar screen size, ratio and bezel-less design as the forthcoming Apple smartphone. Other notable details touch on design speculations, such as the removal of the Touch ID fingerprint scanner and a potential facial recognition unlock system. There is also no headphone jack on the device, supporting rumors of wireless charging. While this prototype is useful for speculations, it may still be insufficient to make conclusive claims of the final Apple iPhone 8 model.
