Located in the Mexican beach resort of Tulum, Casa Malca was once the home of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Now, it is renovated and turned into a hotel by New York based Lio Malca — a prominent art dealer who filled the luxury accommodation with items from his collection.

From a nine-bedroom mansion to a 42-room hotel, Casa Malca welcomes more people to come and view art while living the Tulum lifestyle. Inside the lobby, paintings, sculptures, and furnitures by some of the most revered contemporary artists and designers such as Basquiat and KAWS are displayed against white walls and polished concrete floors. The pieces are carefully picked by Malca to fit different rooms due to Tulum’s humidity and heat. Since the art across the hotel is frequently rotated, returning guests can enjoy different works. Other ground floor rooms in the villa include a bar lined with Keith Haring-themed wallpaper.

There is also a hidden underground steam room that lights up in different colors like a James Turrell installation, and exits directly to the pool.

Rooms can be booked at Casa Malca online, with rates starting from $490 USD per night.
