Essentials: ZHU
The “Faded” mastermind opts for an all-black everything look.

ZHU, real name Steven Zhu, has maintained an anonymous image ever since he made his rise in music in 2014. The electronic music producer and singer dropped his debut album Generationwhy last year, which hit 109 on the Billboard 200 and sold 3,000 copies its first week. This year, Zhu has made remixes of Gorillaz’s “Andromeda” off of the band’s latest album Humanz, as well as off Migos’s smash hit “Bad and Boujee.” His latest release comes in the form of a music video for the track “Intoxicated.” We linked up with the “Faded” producer for our Essentials series. The Mind of a Genius signee went for an all-black ensemble, a color-scheme that aligns with all of his recent releases. Clothing-wise, ZHU opts for a Nightday stingray bomber and a Borsalino hat to help conceal his identity. In his Tumi backpack are a Leica type 109 camera, binoculars, Ultimate Ears earphones, a MacBook Pro, Montblanc passport holder, vape, and iPhone.
