Lil Yachty Actually Thought Squidward's Clarinet Was a Cello
“I thought Squidward played the cello. He don’t. That’s a flute.”
Lil Yachty linked up with Genius to give a Verified breakdown of his latest hit, “Peek a Boo,” off of his recently released album Teenage Emotions. The Atlanta rapper even addresses the part where he raps, “My new b*tch yellow / She blow that d*ck like a cello.” When the song first came out, the Internet was going in on Lil Boat for not knowing that the cello was a string instrument rather than a woodwind.
“I’m gonna blame my A&R,” Yachty said. “He listened to that song many times, and he allowed me to say that, okay? I guess for a second, I thought a cello was a woodwind instrument and it is not. Nobody ever said sh*t. Nobody ever pulled up a picture and said, ‘Hey man, I don’t know if you know what this is. But it ain’t that.’ I f*cked up. I thought Squidward played the cello.” He then tried to redeem himself, but unfortunately, he gave the wrong answer again. “He don’t,” Yachty said. “That’s a flute.” Watch the Boat give a breakdown of “Peek a Boo” above.
