Kendrick Lamar Teams up With the Clippers to Send Paul Pierce out in Style
“Life isn’t about the wins and losses. It’s also about how you affect people.”
With Paul Pierce already playing his last game ever in the NBA after being eliminated by the Utah Jazz, one of the game’s legends may be gone from the game, but he certainly won’t be forgotten anytime soon. With an NBA title, a Finals MVP and 10 All-Star nominations under his belt, the city of Los Angeles thought it would be fitting to send one of the city’s legends off in style. In collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, the LA Clippers decided to make a video homage to Pierce, giving the rest of the world a glimpse at what Pierce means to the city, being one of the success stories to come out of Inglewood. The video shows a young boy distributing flyers through the neighborhood, advertising Pierce’s final game, with a group of people gathering to reminisce about some of Pierce’s best highlights. Lamar narrates the entire video, with appearances from Chris Paul, Isaiah Thomas and Kobe Bryant all wishing “The Truth” the best.
Paul Pierce is best known for his time with the Boston Celtics, where he helped lead the team to two NBA Finals appearances in three years, splitting the results with Bryant’s LA Lakers. Watch Pierce reminisce about his glory days with former teammate Kevin Garnett here.
