Designer KXIV Creates "Bird's Nest" adidas UltraBOOST Custom
Inspired by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Center.

Designer KXIV has created a pair of adidas UltraBOOST customs inspired by the Beijing National Stadium. The stadium, better known as the “Bird’s Nest,” was used during the 2008 Olympics and features a unique and intricate structure designed by world renowned architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron. KXIV’s UltraBOOST features a textured upper sporting the whimsical design of the Bird’s Nest and a blue that reflects the Beijing National Aquatics Center atop a blacked out BOOST unit.
Using an abrasive-resistant polyurethane fused to a lycra base, the texture on the upper is achieved. The intricate lacing system in place utilizes two continuous laces which loop around the sneakers, held in place along select spots with 3D printed double-loop cinches. The anchor of the loop system is on the heel and holds everything in place.
