Today marks what would have been the late actor’s 38th birthday.
This past March, Spike TV announced its plans to premiere a brand new documentary that spotlights the life and career of late actor Heath Ledger. Now, the American cable and satellite channel aptly unveils the first trailer for the incoming film as today marks The Dark Knight star’s birthday. The three-minute clip is an emotional mélange, showcasing homemade videos captured by Ledger himself alongside impassioned interviews with Kate Ledger (Heath’s sister), musician Ben Harper, model Christina Cauchi, filmmaker Matt Amato and Brokeback Mountain director Ang Lee. “He wanted fame,” Matt Amato said. “And then when he got it, he didn’t want it.”
I Am Heath Ledger is set to premiere during the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23. The documentary will hit select theaters stateside on May 3 and premiere on Spike TV on May 17.
