Nike Puts a Modern Spin on the Air Current

Nike’s Air Current is the latest silhouette to get a modern-day reimagining from the Swoosh as it revisits the comfy late ’80s classic. Dubbed the Current Slip-On (despite the fact that it employs lacing in the same manner as the original Current), the new design strips some of the bulk away from the original, but features neoprene and mesh construction alongside familiar design cues like an elasticized midfoot strap and an external heel counter that pays homage to the overlays and cutouts of the OG. And, given the lack of “Air” in the Current Slip-On name, it looks like the cushioning tech has gone by the wayside in favor of a more contemporary and lightweight offering.

Expect the Current Slip-On to land soon at select Nike Sportswear spots.
