For 2017 fall/winter, Korean designer MUNSOO KWON took inspiration from the traditional clothing of the Amish and vamped it up for the runway. The collection, titled “Running Around Time,” offers up contrasting colors and materials in order to achieve the unique looks. With blacks and dull browns to navy and traditional Amish checkered patterns, the garments have been crafted with alpaca, velvet, and leopard prints for a strong juxtaposition of the Amish community to the outside world. Amish staples such as broadfall pants, suspenders, capes, wide-brim hats — and beards — make an appearance throughout the collection, as well as a ‘praying hands’ motif, symbolizing their religious cultures. Check out the full collection above. And one things for sure, MUNSOO KWON aims to bring Amish fashion into style.
In MUNSOO KWON’s recent 2017 spring/summer Collection, the designer pays homage to San Francisco’s hippy culture.
