Acne Studios has announced that it will be relaunching its denim line as a separate line called Acne Studios Blå Konst. The brand was primarily known as a jeans-focused label when it began back in 1997, so the news will come as no surprise to long-term fans. In a press release, Creative Director Jonny Johansson said that he launched Acne Studios Blå Konst because “I wanted to create a free space for us, running parallel to our regular collections. This is what Acne Studios Blå Konst will be. Our denim will be like a study, always evolving and moving forward.”

There will be both permanent collections in the form of three styles of denim: a loose fit called Land, a tapered fit called River and a slim fit called North. There will also be seasonal collections under the label that will focus on denim but feature other RTW fabrics. Acne Studios Blå Konst launches on April 6 and will be available from Acne Studio’s web store.

Acne has been focusing on its secondary labels lately — back in February the brand launched its Emoji collection.
