Nike Brings Flyknit Construction to the Sock Racer
Along with a Free-inspired sole unit.

Originally released back in 1985, Nike’s Sock Racer was unexpectedly resurrected earlier this month — in OG form, no less The drop marked the first release for the silhouette since an appearance in 2014’s celebratory “Genealogy of Free” pack, which marked the 10-year anniversary of the Swoosh’s flexible sole tech by highlighting a number of Free precursors.
Now Nike is bringing things full circle by adding a Free sole to the design. The result is a streamlined look that stays true to the strapped original. The sole isn’t the only new addition, however. Nike has also swapped out the shoe’s original construction in favor of a Flyknit upper that comes complete with an elasticized collar for an improved fit.
Expect the two colorways pictured above to land on shelves soon at size? and other Nike Sportswear stockists.
