Joss Whedon May Be Making the Jump From Marvel's Cinematic Universe to DC's
The ‘Avengers’ director is nearing a deal to helm a solo Batgirl flick.
Wonder Woman isn’t the only DC superheroine getting her own solo flick in the comic imprint and Warner Bros.’s extended film universe. Batgirl is set to fly solo, too. But the big news? Joss Whedon may be at the helm.
According to Variety, the Avengers director is nearing a deal to not only direct the Batgirl venture, but write and produce the film as well. Should Whedon take on the project, it would be a huge coup for DC and Warner Bros. and mark a huge shift for the Marvel vet. Whedon wrote and directed both The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, took on uncredited rewrites for Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World, and even helmed the post-credit scenes for Thor and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It remains unclear when the Batgirl film would go into production or hit theaters, but stay tuned for more on Whedon’s potential Marvel-to-DC jump.
