Imtayaz Qassim’s lookbook imagery is normally captured in the natural outdoors, but for his latest 2017 fall/winter collection he vouches for a more minimal look. The cold-weather range culls a gamut of military-inspired pieces including jackets, hoodies, tees and trousers. Monochromatic colors such as deep black and stone grey are purveyed throughout the assemblage with the exception of a few vibrant wares. Standout items include the down jacket with Imtayaz Qassim branding on its back portion, loose-fitting joggers with front zip pockets and a mock neck tee emblazoned with a floral pattern.

Moreover, the series is an homage to Harun al-Rashid — the fifth caliph of the Abbasid dynasty in Baghdad. “Harun al-Rashid was one of the greatest caliph’s in world history. He was known for bringing together the greatest creative and scientific minds, as well as leaders from all religions and created an arena where men could discuss and learn from one another, a place of intellect, peace and innovation,” the designer told us. “This peaceful coming together of religions and race is a forgotten ancient history that is vital to a more stable and secure world. I grew up in a bi-cultural home so this clash of cultures is part of who I am and in turn impacts and inspires everything I do, its this story I want to explore through my collections.”
