Darth Vader's New Comic Book Reveals How He Got His Red Lightsaber
Picking up after “Revenge of the Sith.”

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi still in the works, fans of the franchise can anticipate a new comic book to tide them over until the film’s Dec. 15 release date. IGN reports that notorious villain Darth Vader is getting his own series from Marvel, written by Charles Soule (Lando, Obi-Wan and Anakin) and illustrated by Giuseppe Camuncoli (The Amazing Spider-Man). Taking place after 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, early days of the former Anakin Skywalker character as he transitions into a machine, along with the origins of his red lightsaber are revealed throughout the arc. “We’re going to explore the mythology around lightsabers to some degree, which will be very fun. I’m really lucky that I get to tell that story,” Soule stated.
Darth Vader #1 will be available both digitally and in-print from Marvel Comics starting in June.
