Bayern Munich Captain Philipp Lahm Announces His Plan to Retire at the End of the Season
Tallying over 500 caps for the club so far.

Philipp Lahm, the former captain of the German National team, has announced his plan to retire from his current club Bayern Munich at the end of the season. Lahm is currently the captain of the Bundesliga giants and has 501 caps for the club thus far. Lahm retired from international football after Germany’s triumph in Brazil in 2014. At 33-years-old, Lahm announced his decision after Bayern’s German Cup last-16 win over Wolfsburg stating:
“I can continue with my leadership style, giving my best every day, in every training, until the end of the season. I can keep doing it this season but not beyond. I’ve been considering it for more than the past year. You have to keep testing yourself, you have to keep asking yourself ‘how is it’, day by day, week by week on the training pitch, what’s the feeling you have.”
