MAHAGRID Pays Homage to K-Pop Icon Kim Sung-jae With New Capsule
The Korean label recreates the hockey-inspired ensemble from his last-ever performance.
Late K-pop icon Kim Sung-jae has long been considered to be one of the most influential artists in the history of K-pop and is widely considered to be one of the first artists to incorporate hip-hop into Korean music as one half of the duo Deux. This season, more than two decades after his untimely and mysterious death at the age of 23, fledgling Korean label MAHAGRID is paying homage to Sung-jae with a special capsule collection that recreates the hockey-inspired ensemble he wore for his last-ever performance — one that also coincided with the debut of his highly anticipated solo album, As I Told You, on November 19, 1995. The collection not only images the “TEAM SERIOUS” top as a tee, hoodie, and cap, but also coincides with a matching skate deck and figurine by SLOWWALKER.
Though both the deck and figure are sold out, K-pop fans can find the remainder of the homage now via MAHAGRID’s web store while supplies last.
