NYC native Richard Mendoza, a.k.a. “Rich the Barber,” owns the Filthy Rich Barbershop in Woodside, Queens. Cutting and styling hair since he was a kid, the fifth-generation hairstylist opened the establishment in 2006 where artists like Big Sean, Flo Rida, Travie McCoy and NBA players Patrick Patterson and Austin Rivers all come through. The shop’s motto, “Walk in Filthy, Come Out Rich” makes all their customers feel worthy of Mendoza and company’s VIP treatment after a fresh cut.

HYPEBEAST recently caught up with the barber to show us his essential pieces. No barber is complete without the proper hair products and he chose to include his American Crew Defining Paste to add texture and the new American Crew Heavy Hold Pomade for the final touch and high shine. Mendoza even brought along some prized possessions: Supreme x Andis clippers, which he uses in his daily routine; his Rolex Submariner Date to make sure he’s always on time for clients’ appointments; and his Goyard wallet to keep his currency in check.

Browse through Mendoza’s Essentials above and be sure to check out more must-haves.
