Apple Sneaks Through New iOS 11.2 Update
Out-of-sync with typical scheduling.

Over the weekend, Apple released a major iOS 11.2 update. The new update dropped early Saturday morning, varying from Apple’s standard release schedule which typically pushes new updates on Tuesdays. The off-schedule release is speculated to have been in response to an iOS bug that caused iPhones to crash whenever a notification came through and marks the first time a major update is released over the weekend.
Aside from the bug fixes, the new update introduces Apple Pay Cash, which enables iPhone holders to send and receive money through iMessage via Apple Pay. For those who have an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X, the update also comes with faster 7.5 W Qi charging—raising the cap on the previous 5W charging limitations.
