Streetsnaps play such a large part in today’s fashion culture, and photographers from Tommy Ton to Scott Schuman have gained recognition for their well-curated shots. New York’s Mordechai Rubenstein, better known as Mister Mort, documents every day citizens who catch his eye on Instagram, and is pairing up with NEPENTHES for a collaborative photograph exhibition.

THE GARMENT DISTRICT IS EVERYWHERE showcases some of Rubenstein’s portraits of ordinary people living their lives, wearing uniforms — not prescribed outfits, but clothes that they’ve worn for decades on end. As the store sets up for the exhibition, it also prepares to host a pop-up from Japan’s VELVET. The Japanese store will bring over a selection of vintage and used clothing, which will be offered until late January.

The dual event kicks off from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, November 22, at NEPENTHES NY. Check out VELVET‘s site for more information on its offerings. Meanwhile, NEPENTHES recently dropped new iterations of NEEDLES’ iconic tracksuits in exclusive colorways.
