Watch a Video of Michael Jordan Going Nike Sneaker Shopping in 1988
The OG days.
Both NBA and sneaker shopping fans will appreciate this clip from a rare 1988 Michael Jordan documentary, titled Michael Jordan & Co, that sees the six-time NBA champion go on a shopping spree at Nike in Portland.
The clip, which starts at around the 14:40 mark, was brought to light by NBA history enthusiast Adam Ryan. The footage shows Nike employees hand over a pair of Air Ace 3/4 sneakers that were specifically reserved for Jordan, who then joins his Chicago Bulls teammates Charles Oakley and Sam Vincent to browse the Nike aisles at liberty.
The time of filming was the same year that Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan 3 and debuted the new Jumpman logo, which effectively stopped Jordan from acting on his plan to end his Nike contract.
