Jaden Smith Is Making a Film Based on Debut Album 'SYRE'
“It really is the story of me coming to be a young adult, and it wasn’t easy at all.”
After three years in the making, Jaden Smith released his debut album SYRE earlier this week. The album is based around the narrative of a boy as he comes to age and finds out what he’s going to do with his life.
In a new interview with Billboard, Jaden reveals that he is currently directing a SYRE film which continues on this theme and storyline. “It’s an actual film that plays out that has characters,” he says. “There’s no rapping, really, in the whole movie. It’s just about the story of Syre.”
“It’s really just become a legacy of this guy, this kid, who chases the sunset,” he adds. “And then one day, it chases him back and he can’t get away. It really is the story of me coming to be a young adult, and it wasn’t easy at all.”
At the moment, it hasn’t been confirmed who will be acting in the movie. Read the rest of the interview via Billboard and listen to SYRE below.
