McLaren Is Launching a New Ultimate Series Hypercar Ahead of the BP23
With a full unveiling slated for Q1 2018.

Hot off its three-seated 720S test model reveal, McLaren has been looking for its new vehicle to fill the void left after production of the Ultimate Series P1 ended. The announcement of the BP23 project seemed to be just that vehicle. Although few details are known, a new model is being developed ahead of the aforementioned hypercar, and it sounds promising. The unnamed model is said to be “the most extreme, track-concentrated road car McLaren has yet designed,” according to the manufacturer.
Slated to be a street-legal vehicle focused on track performance, its “daily usability is being sacrificed to give the most intensive driver experience around a circuit,” according to the statement released by the automaker. “Its design, described as brutal, will be the purest expression yet of the company’s ‘form follows function’ philosophy.” Additional details on the model and its official name are speculated to be revealed before the year closes, with a full unveiling slated for Q1 2018.
