Halloween is less than a month away and what better way to get in the mood than staying in a transformed insane asylum. New York studio Deborah Berke Partners has provided Halloween lovers a chance to spend this year’s spooky festivities in a former patients room.

Found in Buffalo, New York, the 19th Century mental hospital was built in the Richardson Romanesque style. The grandiose building features “brick masonry with rustic stonework” and now houses 88 rooms. Back when the building served as an asylum the facility championed the philosophy of physician Thomas Story Kirkbride — which resulted in the building having ample access to natural light, fresh air and picturesque views for patients. Deborah Berke Partners commented that “Hotel Henry offers a compelling example of how these vast structures can be successfully repurposed for contemporary uses and contribute to their communities.”

So if you happen to be in New York this Halloween and want to treat yourself to a night in an old mental asylum, look no further. Rooms can be booked at the Hotel’s website
