'The Raid' Director Gareth Evans May Helm a Solo Deathstroke Film
The latest addition to upcoming villain-centered superhero films.

It’s been a year since Ben Affleck shared footage of a live-action Deathstroke, hinting at his potential involvement in the new crop of DC-related superhero films. It was speculated he may appear in Justice League, and then a standalone Batman film thereafter. However, Warner Bros. has revealed it has bigger plans for the character, in the form of his own standalone film, directed by Gareth Evans.
It has been reported that The Raid director is currently in talks to directed as well as write a standalone movie based around DC’s iconic assassin Slade Wilson. Joe Manganiello is still attached to play the titular villain, and it has been confirmed by io9 that the project, although underway is still in very early stages. It hasn’t been confirmed whether the character is set to appear in the upcoming Batman film or if the standalone will take place in the mainline DC Extended Universe instead of the new slate of one-shot films that take place outside the other DC-related movies. Deathstroke follows alongside Venom and Doctor Doom in a line of recently announced villain-based films. Are you excited for a Deathstroke standalone film? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
